Yes. Record the lesson on your iPhone, with your tutor's OK, or import the audio if you already have a file. One recording can run up to 90 minutes. If all you have is notes or a transcript, paste the text instead.

Yes. It transcribes each recording with speaker labels, so you can see who said what, and you can read the whole transcript in the app. Then it pulls out up to 60 words and 30 phrases, and you pick the ones to keep as cards.

There's no transcript export. If what you want is the text itself, to keep or share, a transcription tool fits better than Verbamor.

Test yourself on the new words soon after the lesson, then again on a widening schedule. Rereading your notes feels like studying and does little. In Karpicke and Roediger's 2008 study, students who kept testing themselves recalled about 80% of a word list a week later. Students who kept restudying it recalled 36%.

No. A tutor helps, and you can use the app without one. The Translate tab saves single words and whole phrases as cards, through the same pipeline a recorded lesson uses. You can also paste any text.

The real limit is your starting level. Verbamor holds on to words you've already met, so it won't teach a true beginner their first thousand words.

Five: Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and Russian. The app's menus are in English whichever one you learn, and you can switch language from the profile sheet on the Today screen.

If you learn anything else, Verbamor can't help yet. Kardo lists 37 languages and Audilingua takes any language, and the three-way comparison says what each one does.

There are two plans. Explorer is $19.99 a month. Native is $129.99 a year, about $10.83 a month, and it starts with a 7-day free trial. There's no free tier.

The 7-day trial comes with the annual plan only. Apple runs the billing, so you cancel in Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions. Apple says to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Otherwise it renews into a paid year.

Apple allows one introductory offer per subscription group. So if you start on the monthly plan and move to the annual one later, you don't get a second trial. Billing questions go to support.

Only with your tutor's OK, so ask before the first recording. Some tutors say no, and that's their call. italki won't record a lesson itself unless both the teacher and the student agree.

If your tutor says no, you still have ways in. Paste your notes or the lesson chat, or save the new words one at a time in Translate.

Anki is an excellent scheduler, and it ships no language content: you make every card. It's free on Windows, macOS, Linux and Android, sync is free, and the iPhone app is US$24.99 once. Verbamor makes the cards for you from what you recorded, pasted or saved, with a picture and audio, and schedules them with FSRS.

No. Verbamor is an iPhone and iPad app, for iOS 16.4 or later. There's no desktop step and no deck to build by hand. Your first cards come from your first recording, file, paste or saved word.

Every card has native-accent audio in 2 clips. The front plays the example sentence with the word left out. The back plays the full sentence.

The voices are generated in a native accent, and no person records them. If you want human recordings, Babbel says all of its course audio is voiced by native speakers.

All three turn a lesson into study material. Kardo sends a bot into your Zoom, Meet or Teams call. Audilingua records on your computer and makes summaries, grammar tables and PDFs. Verbamor records on your phone and makes cards with pictures and audio on a review schedule.
