And in Spanish
“And” in Spanish is y, pronounced /i/. It's a conjunction, so it has no gender.
In a sentence
En la mesa hay una manzana y una naranja.
On the table there are an apple and an orange.
Grammar note
Before a word that starts with an i sound, y becomes e: padre e hijo, otoño e invierno. Before hie-, as in hielo, it stays y, because that starts with a y sound: agua y hielo.
How to remember it
Y is one letter and one sound, the ee in see. Picture the ring of light around the apple and the orange: y is the ring that holds two things together.
